The 2011 MLB offseason may go down as one of the most historic in the last 15 years. From two teams receiving new ownership, to several marquee free agents finding new homes for ridiculous amounts of money, the 2011 offseason has had fans chomping at the bit for the upcoming season. If all the usual fuss wasn’t enough, bookie software agents still have the new wild card spots and realignment for 2013 to mull over. Here is the latest offseason news.

Coming out of the winter meetings, it appears as though the American League West, will soon become the MLB sports betting toughest division in baseball. Currently made up of the Texas Rangers, LA Angels, Oakland Athletics and Seattle Mariners, the AL West is set to welcome the Houston Astros in 2013 as a part of realignment. However, many fans and analysts alike are calling the Texas Rangers and LA Angels, the new Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees of the American League.

For those of you unfamiliar with the LA Angels moves this offseason, here is a quick recap. Last week in a span of 12 hours, the Angels went from a relatively quiet offseason to one of the busiest. First, the Angels signed former Texas Rangers ace CJ Wilson to a five year $75 million contract. Then, they topped themselves, by signing the best first baseman in the history of baseball, as they acquired Albert Pujols for 10 years and $255 million dollars. Wilson adds his name to an already legendary rotation, including the likes of Jared Weaver, Ervin Santana, and Dan Haren. Pujols becomes the latest big contract acquisition for the Angels, who also have Vernon Wells and Tori Hunter in their lineup this season.
