MLB betting handicappers are beginning to consider which free agents will change teams and which will stay with their current clubs. Although the post season has been gaining most of the media attention, baseball betting fans will be focusing on free agent signings and possible trades this winter. For the first time in several years, it appears that trading for an impact star may be better than signing a free agent. However, here are two players we see moving this offseason.

  • Cliff Lee - Need we say more? Lee has been on more teams in the last two years than Terrell Owens of the NFL. What's astounding is that every where Lee goes he's been quite successful.

In 2009, as many will recall, Lee was traded for several prospects from the Cleveland Indians to the Philadelphia Phillies. Once arriving in Philadelphia, Lee was more dominant than ever before, guiding the Phillies to their second straight World Series birth. However, when the Phillies lost to the Yankees, they abruptly traded Lee to the Seattle Mariners in a four team deal which saw former Blue Jays ace Roy Halladay arrive in the city of brotherly love.

Then during the 2010 season, Lee who is on a one year deal was traded from a rebuilding Mariners squad to the ALCS participant Texas Rangers. This brings us to where he will land in the offseason. Lee has been a playoff workhorse going undefeated in seven appearances. After his latest gem against the New York Yankees, we believe he will end up with a contract similar to CC Sabathia as he signs with the pinstripes. However, Texas has been great to Lee, so don't be surprised if he signs long term with the new management.

  • Prince Fielder - Similar to his father Cecil, Prince has absolutely dominated the MLB since arriving back in 2005. During his five years in the big leagues, Fielder has been a model teammate, guiding the Brewers to their first playoffs in several years as well as winning various batting titles.

We see Fielder coming over to the American League and perhaps joining Cliff Lee in Texas. Although the Rangers may prove everyone wrong and win the World Series, one glaring weakness is at first base. Bring in Fielder and both your defensive and offensive woes at first will be gone for quite some time.
