Breaking Down The Best Hitters In White Sox History

The Chicago White Sox have struggled out of the gate this season, and are destined to hit the Kentucky Derby betting weekend with a sub-.500 record. A big part of the problem has been an anemic offense that ranks 27th in batting average and 28th in runs scored, with the worst OBP in the majors. Things weren’t always this way though for a proud franchise, as a number of big-time hitters have passed through the organization over the years. From Carlton Fisk to Harold Baines, the White Sox have always had players with a lot of power that could do a little bit of everything, and leading the sports betting list of the best hitters in franchise history is none other than Frank Thomas.

The Big Hurt was an absolute monster during his 16 seasons in Chicago, smacking a total of 466 home runs and averaging 36 home runs and 125 RBI through a decade period from 1990-2000. Thomas is the current franchise leader in home runs, and although Paul Konerko isn’t far behind there is no doubt that Thomas is the better overall hitter. Fisk and Baines deserve honorable mention in this category with each of them topping the 200 home run mark during their time with the White Sox, but when it comes to the most complete and dangerous hitter in franchise history, there is no player that deserves that honor more than Thomas, who led Chicago to so many big wins with the sites listed on the sportsbook reviews.

Best right fielders of all time

Throughout the history of baseball, some of the MLB’s best players have been right fielders. Here is a brief few who made my personal list of the best right fielders of all time. You may see similar names on other sports books or online.

In no particular order let us start with Reggie Jackson. His career spanned 21 years and was named to the All-Star team 14 times. Although he was a right fielder, he is better known as one of the best post-season batter. He hit many home runs leading up the World Series, and was able to help his team win five of them. Next, despite his somewhat fall from grace, Pete Rose was one of the league’s best right fielders. He was named to the All-Star team 17 times and won the World Series three times. Finally there is Hank Aaron. Over a 23 year career Aaron finished with a .305 batting average and 755 home runs. He won the World Series only twice, but that does nothing to diminish his role as one of the greatest professional right fielders.

There you have it a list of some of baseball’s best right fielders of all time. These names were favorites of sports betting fans and bookies during their heyday.

Three pitchers that could hit the ball

There are very few pitchers have the ability to hit the ball. They spend their whole careers learning how to throw, that often pitchers do not get the ample opportunity to practice batting. There are some pitchers that were able to hit the ball well, including the great Babe Ruth who ended up changing positions so he could focus on his batting instead of pitching.

Another pitcher who is a good batter is CC Sabathia. He has a batting average of .261, and if he were to step up to the plate more often, the Yankees could find themselves with another decent hitter on the bench. Finally there is Carlos Zambrano, who is not only a pitcher but also a switch hitter. He has a .227 batting average, while last year he hit an impressive average of .337. Many sports betting fans love betting on pitchers who can also hit the ball as it adds another dimension to their game.

Many bookies will have prop bets available for those who want to guess on how well a pitcher/ good hitter will do this baseball season. There have been many great pitchers who could also hit, and there will be more to come.

Why Can’t Many Pitchers Hit?

The answer to this question is pretty simple, all of their training revolves around pitching the ball not hitting it. They rarely practiced hitting throughout their time as a young player and by the time they get to the majors they cannot hit. Most sports betting fans know better than to put money on the batter who happens to be a pitcher.

For the same reason why good hitters cannot pitch, pitchers never practiced therefore could never hit the ball. Some pitchers however, can hit the ball at .200. Babe Ruth started his career as a pitcher, but as the year went on he opted out of pitching in order to focus on his hitting skills. Sports books do recognize some decent pitchers who also hit the ball every now and then, but they will not change their betting line based on what a pitcher can do at the plate.

Pitchers spend all game throwing the ball, and by the time it’s their turn to bat their arms are dead. They stop batting at a young age these days and the chances of a pitcher hitting is becoming a rare event. If they do bat the will only step up to the plate once or twice every five games or so.

Was Babe Ruth a good pitcher?

Babe Ruth is one of the most well-known baseball players of all time. Famous for being able to hit the ball anywhere he wanted with the single point of a finger, he holds home run records and is n MLB hall of famer. Many loved to bet on the Yankees during Babe Ruth’s prime years as he rarely struck out. But was one of the greatest hitters of all time a good pitcher?

Before Ruth became an outfielder, he was actually a successful pitcher. His lifetime record was 94-46 with an ERA of 2.2770. His stats made him an elite pitcher of his time, and his stats even rival him as one of the best to date. When with the Yankees he was 5-0, and in the World Series he pitched 29 scoreless innings. His World Series record was 3-0 with a 0.87 ERA.

Some would assume that is Ruth did have such a great hitting year in 1919 with the Boston Red Sox that he would still be a great pitcher. He is one of the few players that many sports books praise as being a hall of fame player for either hitting or pitching. To this day teams are looking for a hitter as good as Babe Ruth was, but maybe they do not realize that there are some players who can take pitching duty as well. Check out the latest sports book review to see if there are players in the MLB today who can rival the great bambino.
